What to Expect

Families visiting The Children's Heart Center receive a complete evaluation in a single visit. From diagnostic testing to consultations with pediatric nurse and physician specialists, visits are structured so the family leaves fully informed about the diagnosis and treatment plan.

If surgery is recommended, families consult with the anesthesiologist a few days prior to surgery and children are given a tour of the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. Pre-admission testing is completed on an outpatient basis and includes:

• Blood tests
• Chest X-ray
• Examination by the physician
• Other tests determined necessary by the physician
