The
Cardiology Outpatient Clinic is located on the 5th floor in the Lester
Z. Lieberman Center for Ambulatory Care. All services are available
by appointment Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m. While
a primary cardiologist follows each patient's case, the collective expertise
of all the cardiologists is available to every patient. The department
is staffed by a team of experienced cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons,
pediatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and many other cardiac
and medical technicians.
• Outpatient consultation and follow-up visits
• Echocardiograms
• EKGs
• Event recordings
• Holter monitoring
• Pacemaker analysis and programming
• Exercise testing
• Fetal echocardiograms and prenatal
consultation
Patients scheduled for cardio thoracic surgery and cardiac
catheterization are also evaluated in the Cardiology clinic. During
the pre-admission visit, the patient's medical
history is reviewed and a physical examination is performed or updated.
Blood tests, EKG, and chest x-ray are usually ordered and completed
in the same session. In addition, a tour of the facilities with age-appropriate
explanations for child-patient helps to allay much
of the anxiety or concerns they might have before their surgery.
