Three Diagnostic Modalities at Clara Maass Receive Accreditation from American College of Radiology

BELLEVILLE, N.J.- Three diagnostic modalities at Clara Maass Medical Center - Nuclear Medicine, CAT Scan, and Ultrasound - have all received a three-year term of accreditation from the American College of Radiology (ACR). These services are provided within the Medical Center as well as at the Progressive Imaging Center, a free-standing diagnostic imaging facility located on the campus of Clara Maass.

Accreditation means the ACR has determined that the protocols and high standards of quality have been met by the Medical Center. These standards and protocols include producing a high quality image; proper training and certification of technicians and physicians; and reduced exposure to radiation.

Accreditation is awarded to facilities for the achievement of these high practice standards after a peer-review evaluation of its practices. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field.

The ACR is a national organization serving more than 32,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists and medical physicists with programs for focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
