 Emergency Services is designed to care for patients with acute
medical and surgical conditions who cannot wait to be seen by private
physicians. A dedicated team of nurses, doctors and support staff
are always ready to provide immediate medical care. A state-of-the-art
Emergency Department includes a dedicated assessment area designed
to exclusively treat and monitor patients experiencing symptoms
of a cardiac episode, two radiology rooms, a 24-hour stat laboratory
for fast lab work, and a transfusion services area. The spacious
department houses 24 beds that are equipped with telemetry units
for heart monitoring. More than 33,000 patients are treated in
the Clara Maass Emergency Department each year. The introduction
of bedside registration and the Clinical Managers Information program
has resulted in increased efficiencies in the delivery of emergency
care.
