TOMS RIVER, New Jersey, September 24, 2007--- The Center for Women’s Health and the Center for Kids & Family at Community Medical Center have teamed to offer a series of workshops designed to strengthen family relationships.
On Saturday, October 13, from 9 a.m. to noon, the centers will present the Strengthening Couples Workshop, a professionally led group designed to help couples learn skills and techniques for resolving conflicts and deflecting arguments, and to teach communication and problem solving skills. The fee for the program — which includes a continental breakfast — is $35 per couple.
“Through this workshop, couples can learn how to build stronger, healthier relationships,” says Michele Lardieri, division director for Community Health Education and Outreach at Community Medical Center.
Additionally, the Mother-Daugher Club — a series of three workshops designed to help mothers and daughters build strong relationships that will help them navigate the adolescent years — will be held on Saturday, October 20, November 17 and December 15, from 10 a.m. to noon. Fee for the workshop — which is open to mothers and daughters in middle school — is $30.
“Through this program we explore the forces in our society that make being an adolescent girl difficult,” Lardieri says, noting that discussions are designed to help daughters develop autonomy yet still maintain intimacy with their mothers. “Moms and daughters can draw strength and support from each other as they learn about social concerns, their loved one and themselves. It is hoped that skills, support and knowledge gained during this workshop will strengthen the mother-daughter bond as the girls head into the high school years.”
