Toms River, N.J., October 27, 2008 – Community Medical Center will host its Second Annual Men’s Health Night on Thursday, November 6 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the hospital’s auditorium, 99 Highway 37 West in Toms River. The free evening of lectures, educational information and health screenings is just for men.
According to a survey of 1,000 men conducted in 2007 for the American Academy of Family Physicians, almost one third wait as long as possible before seeking medical attention. Since statistics prove that staying healthy, preventing disease, getting proper screening tests, taking preventative medicine if needed and practicing healthy behaviors can prolong a man’s life, making a commitment to one’s health is very important.
At Men’s Health Night, participants will learn more about the latest in diagnostic services and treatments now available at Community Medical Center, including 64-slice CT scanning, a revolutionary new diagnostic imaging system; and the da Vinci robotic surgery system, the latest technology available for minimally invasive surgery.
Urologist Victor Ferlise, MD, will present a free health lecture on robotic assisted surgery for the treatment of prostate cancer, the most common cancer aside from skin cancer, in American men. In addition, orthopedic surgeons Robert Closkey, MD and Elmo Samuel, MD will present a lecture on the latest advances in joint replacement and revision surgery.
Healthy snacks will be available, and participants may ask questions and learn more about healthy cooking and food choices. Giveaways and door prizes will be offered.
Women who bring the special man in their lives to the Men’s Health Night, will be treated to a special program as well, where Jamie Batzel, master educator from A Cut Above Salon Hair Designers will present, “Look Your Best for Less!”
