MRI Orthopedic Procedures

Why choose Community Medical Center for orthopedic MRI procedures?

Community Medical Center offers immediate appointment times to our patients. Our Board Certified Radiologists will produce a very detailed report in a timely fashion usually within two business days. This facility also offers one of the most modern and technologically advanced diagnostic imaging systems in the region. Community Medical Center has a 3 Tesla short bore Philips magnet that produces twice the signal than the typical magnet on the market. What this means to the patient or physician ordering the scan on the 3 Tesla magnet is greater detail of the orthopedic joint of interest. With this greater signal and detail, smaller ligaments and tendons tears can be more accurately diagnosed that would not be visualized on the weaker 1.5 Tesla magnet system.

MRI has taken a much more prominent role in recent years because of superior soft tissue resolution, and the ability to non-invasively visualize the osseous structures, cartilage and soft tissues of any orthopedic structures. Some examples of orthopedic exams available at Community Medical Center’s MRI Department are:

  • Rotator cuff tears of the shoulder
  • Rotator cuff interval (RCI)
  • MR arthrography of all joints
  • Anterolateral impingement of the ankle
  • Ligamentous injuries to the elbow
  • Detection of meniscal and ligament tears
  • TFCC tears of the wrist ligaments
  • Ganglion cysts in carpal or tarsal bones
  • Morton’s neuromas in the feet
  • Lateral tears with arthrography

The population of this county is growing. Therefore, the use of MRI systems to diagnose orthopedic conditions related to aging continues to grow. Sport injuries requiring diagnostic MRI for our younger citizens will grow as well. MRI has shown to be a very valuable diagnostic tool in orthopedic injuries.

The MRI Department of Community Medical Center offers the region a magnet that can accurately identify problems that in the past would have been undiagnosed. We have state-of-the-art technology for all your orthopedic needs, convenient appointment times, quick detailed reports, and most of all our professional technologists and nurses that will treat your patients like family.
