Support Services

Radiology Department support servicesThe Radiology Department’s support staff is an integral part of our operation at Community Medical Center. Our support staff work in Reception, Scheduling, Transcription and the File Room (also known as the Image Data Center).

Reception/Scheduling: Our specialized support staff handles over 1,500 telephone calls each month. The calls range from scheduling patient exams, answering questions from physicians and patients, as well as explaining radiology procedures and exam preparation instructions.

Our pleasant staff greets you as you enter our department and prepares paperwork for your examination while you wait to be called for your examination. Community Medical Center’s Department of Radiology performs over 36,000 out patient procedures per year.

The Radiology scheduling telephone number is 732-557-8146. Select the prompt for the area of study on your prescription, i.e., Cat Scan, X-Ray, Ultrasound, etc.

Pre-registration before your exam is offered for your convenience to shorten your wait time when you arrive at Community Medical Center.

Also for your convenience, we have printable forms on our web site that you can fill out prior to your arrival in Radiology.

Radiology Transcription ServicesTranscription: The results of all radiology studies performed at Community Medical Center are transcribed by specialized radiology transcriptionists. All examinations are transcribed on the same day the study is interpreted by the Radiologist. Results are available to the referring physician immediately upon transcription.

All modalities, including Diagnostic X-ray, MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, Angiography, Ultrasound and Mammography are transcribed in the Radiology Department. Transcription is staffed 7 days a week including holidays. The transcriptionists type up to 600 reports each day.

File Room (Image Data Center): Our Image Data Center Assistants prepare film releases for approximately 100 exams a day. Since the development of our PACS system in April 2006, we have the ability to download all your images and reports on CDs. These CDs can be reviewed on any computer monitor by the referring physician. There are some physicians do still require hard copy film releases which we can accommodate.

The Image Data Center requests 24 hours notice for all releases unless it is an emergency. They also are responsible for retrieving old images from our off-site facility when needed for comparison interpretation. The Data Image Center staff also digitizes outside images into our PACS system from other facilities for comparison and interpretation by our Radiologists.

The Radiology Film Release Desk is open in the Out Patient Lobby on the main floor Monday through Friday, from 10am until 3pm. During other hours films may be picked up in the Radiology Department on the ground floor.
