, September 14, 2007 -- Deanna Sperling, M.A.S.,
R.N., C.N.A., B.C., has been named vice president of Patient Care
Services at Kimball — the hospital’s top leadership
role in nursing, responsible for directing a staff of nearly 400
nurses who work in a host of inpatient and outpatient settings.
Sperling also holds the position of vice president
of Patient Care Services for the Saint Barnabas Behavioral Health
Center in Toms River, a role she has held since 1998. Prior to that,
she was director of nursing for the behavioral health facility,
where she also had tenures as supervisor and charge nurse for several
patient care units.
She
graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Teaneck, with a master’s
degree in administrative science and is a nursing graduate of St.
James Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Hornell, N.Y. She earned
a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Bloomfield College
and is board certified in nursing administration by the American
Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
She is a member of the Organization of Nurse Executives
of New Jersey — where she also sits as an elected board member
— and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
“Kimball Medical Center nurses have earned
a reputation for providing extraordinary clinical care in both the
inpatient and outpatient setting, and I am so proud to join them,”
Sperling says, pointing to the ANCC’s Magnet Award for Nursing
Excellence, a national distinction bestowed on only 70 hospitals
in the country, including Kimball. “Patient safety and quality
of care are factors upon which certification is awarded, and are
our top priority every day at Kimball.”
