Lakewood, NJ --- Kimball Medical Center is proud to announce the opening of its brand new Fluoroscopy Suite located in the Radiology Department. The new EasyDiagnost Eleva fluoroscopy unit was funded by the Kimball Medical Center Foundation.
Fluoroscopy, the study of moving body structures, is similar to an x-ray "movie." A continuous x-ray beam is passed through the body part being examined, and is transmitted to a monitor so that the body part and its motion can be seen in detail.
Fluoroscopy is used for many routine diagnostic procedures and in many types of examinations and procedures, such as upper and lower GI testing, small bowel series, and for speech therapy in determining if there are any swallowing issues. Fluoroscopy allows the physician to see the movement of internal structures in real time.
The new fluoroscopy equipment offers many benefits for patients including low dose radiation, better image quality for accurate diagnosis and faster testing time. The new exam table is also much more comfortable for patients and is also easier for the fluoroscopy technicians to use.
“We are very fortunate to have this new, state-of-the-art technology for our patients and are very grateful to our Foundation for purchasing this equipment for us,” explains Mojy Goharie, Director of Radiology for Kimball Medical Center. “The new technology is much more efficient and enables us to do an exam in less time, which means our patients are much happier. Also, the image quality is greater so our radiologists are able to see much finer detail, and therefore, can provide greater accuracy in diagnosis.”
The fluoroscopy equipment was funded by the Kimball Medical Center Foundation, which was created to support Kimball Medical Center and the programs and services it provides. The foundation’s accomplishments are funded through contributions from individuals, corporations, and other donors for state of the art equipment, facility improvement and programs. The foundation enjoys the support of thousands of friends, especially the members of the Kimball Medical Center Auxiliary Association, whom not only raise funds for the hospital, but also serve as “ambassadors” in the community.
