Kimball Medical Center Offers Free Glucose Screenings in April

LAKEWOOD, NJ, MARCH 21, 2008 — Are you at risk for diabetes? According to the American Diabetes Association, more than 20 million people in this country have diabetes, and 41 million Americans have pre-diabetes – a condition where blood glucose levels are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. Left unchecked, these conditions can lead to long-term organ damage, especially to the heart and circulatory system. Taking action to control your blood glucose level can delay or prevent type 2 diabetes from developing, and for those already diagnosed with diabetes, can help improve your health and quality of life.

Having a glucose screening to determine your blood sugar level is an important first step in preventive health care and control.

Kimball Medical Center offers free glucose screenings on the first Wednesday of every month from 9:15 to 10:15 a.m. at the Center for Healthy Living located at 198 Prospect Street in Lakewood. To register or to learn more, please call the Saint Barnabas Health Care Link at 1-888-SBHS-123 (1-888-724-7123).
