Breastfeeding not only is one of the most rewarding
experiences of motherhood, it's the healthiest way to feed an
infant during the first year of life.
Monmouth Medical Center's
new lactation program is designed to provide women with information
about the benefits of breastfeeding, as well as the skills to
successfully nurse their babies.
As part of this program, nursing
mothers can schedule a consultation with an internationally certified
lactation consultant, a registered nurse with years of experience
teaching breastfeeding.
And because choosing breastfeeding over
bottle feeding is an important decision that should not be affected
by a nursing mother's return to work, Monmouth offers a breast
pump rental service to help working mothers follow through on
their breastfeeding relationship until mother and baby are ready
for weaning.
Medela Lactina electric breast pumps---the state-of-the-art
in breast pump systems- are available through Monmouth's rental
program. These electric pumps allow nursing mothers to
quickly and comfortably empty both breasts during a single (15-minute)
pumping session.
