Baby-sitting/Safe Sitter
A workshop designed to assist boys and girls age 10 and up to acquire
the skills to become responsible, knowledgeable baby-sitters. Topics
include basic care principles, play techniques, basic first aid,
a CPR demonstration and tips for child safety.
Safe Sitter, a nationally recognized program,
teaches 11 to 13 year-olds to be responsible, creative and attentive
baby-sitters. Because Safe Sitter's goal is to reduce accidental
and preventable deaths of children being cared for by baby-sitters,
it places special emphasis on how to handle emergencies. During
the program, youngsters learn the following:
- Safety Precautions
- Care For A Choking Infant or Child
- Recognizing Emergencies
- Calling For Emergency Help
Participants will receive instruction materials,
a program completion certificate and a subscription to Safe Sitter
magazine. The class will end with a graduation ceremony. A snack
will be provided, and participants are asked to bring lunch.
Safe Sitter Fee: $50/Child
