Medial Center announced that its Associate Vice President of
Academic Affairs Joseph Jaeger was appointed to the Board of
Directors of the Alliance of Independent Medical Centers. This
appointment begins May 1, 2006 and will run through April 30,
2009.
As a leading academic medical center and a core campus of Drexel
University School of Medicine, Mr. Jaeger’s appointment
to this prestigious board is a testament to his commitment to
quality patient care and his appreciation of the important role
medical education and research plays in ensuring the continuous
evolution of that care.
The Alliance of Independent Academic Medical Centers (AIAMC)
is a national membership organization whose members are major
academic medical centers and health systems committed to quality
patient care, medical education and research.
Mr. Jaeger is responsible for all medical education and research
activities at the Monmouth Medical Center. This includes pre-medical,
undergraduate, graduate, continuing medical education, the clinical
research structure and the IRB/Privacy Board. Monmouth Medical
Center, located in Long Branch, NJ, is a 527-bed tertiary-care
facility with a medical/dental staff of over eight hundred and
sponsors 112 residents in nine training programs. Mr. Jaeger
earned his Masters degree in Public Health (MPH) at Emory University
and is pursuing doctoral studies at Columbia University.
AIAMC members are affiliated with medical schools but are independent
of medical school ownership or governance. Formed in 1989, the
AIAMC is considered a respected, national resource, with members
holding leadership positions in such key organizations as the
Association of American Medical Colleges, the Accreditation Council
for Graduate Medical Education, the American Hospital Association,
American Medical Association and others. Today, the association
serves more than 50 teaching hospitals and health systems and
250 senior academic leaders nationwide.
“The Alliance has been an invaluable resource for Monmouth
Medical Center for many years, and I am pleased to have the opportunity
to contribute my time on behalf of my many colleagues from large,
independent teaching hospitals across the country,” states
Mr. Jaeger. “I look forward to doing what I can to ensure
our members continue to receive the advocacy and voice they so
deserve.”
