To today’s parents, Born at The Beth brings to mind the Medical Center’s Mother-Infant Pavilion where the joyous celebration of new life begins for nearly 3,000 babies each year. The Beth is also the site of a state-designated Regional Perinatal Center and a leader in diagnosing and managing high-risk pregnancies as well as providing expert intensive care for mothers and newborns. To mothers and babies at risk in some 30 hospitals throughout four counties, The Beth serves as a vital referral site.
To the entire Beth family, Born at The Beth means even more than the birth of new life. It represents the celebration of all life – apparent in its every history-making achievement and accomplishment, from The Beth’s first successful gallbladder removal in New Jersey in 1904 to its first implantation on the East Coast of the DeBakey Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) in 2001. The Beth is the site of such pioneering and lifesaving programs as: The HEART HOSPITAL of New Jersey — offering the most advanced and comprehensive adult cardiology services, cardiac surgery and heart transplantation; our renowned kidney transplantation services – a primary site of Saint Barnabas Health Care System renal services and the world’s fifth busiest renal center; our Flo Okin Oncology Center; Children’s Hospital of New Jersey and many other vital medical specialty services.
