TRAVEL MEDICINE/TRIP CENTER 1-888-701-TRIP (8747)

The Travel-Related Immunization Program (TRIP) at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center can help you determine which immunizations are necessary. Whether you are traveling for business or pleasure, it is important to protect yourself from the many diseases that may threaten your health.

Some countries require certain immunizations for entry and the TRIP Center is a reliable source for providing all travel-related health information, immunization and preventable medications for your travel needs.

The TRIP Center provides the following immunizations: Yellow Fever Vaccine, Hepatitis A Vaccine, Hepatitis B Vaccine, Typhiod Polysaccaharide Vaccine, Meningococcal Vaccine, Polio Vaccine, Rabies Vaccine, Jananese Encephalitis and MMR.

The TRIP Center staff will personally answer any questions regarding your needs while abroad, as well as provide counseling as to what measures you can take to minimize potential risks. A physician will also provide information regarding the necessary prescriptions and costs, if they are not covered by insurance benefits.

Upon examination, the TRIP Center physician will take into consideration your current physical condition (i.e., diabetes, emphysema or heart disease) and health status and provide you with the information and treatment that may be affected by a change in environment.

When you return, a follow-up examination is available. This may be a good measure to take in case you were exposed to unsanitary conditions, as well as infections or parasites that may not show immediate symptoms. This examination will help treat and potentially eliminate any unforeseen health problems.

To schedule an appointment, travelers can call 1-888-701-TRIP (8747) Monday through Friday during the hours of 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. The TRIP Center accepts certified checks, cash and most major credit cards.
