Press Releases - 2008 Basking Ridge Physician Profiled by Voice of America Newark, NJ --Nazly Shariati, MD, Director of Thoracic Surgery at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and thoracic surgeon at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, both affiliates of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, will be featured in a daily television news program produced by the Voice of America. The program, Today’s Woman, offers discussion and debates a full spectrum of topics and features influential women from around the world. Filmed at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center this week, the program will be aired in February in Iran in the local language, Farsi. Born in Iran, Dr. Shariati came to the United States at 18 years of age. She received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati, OH. She completed a residency in general surgery at Morristown Memorial Hospital, NJ, and a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery at Montefiore Medical Center, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Bronx, NY. Board certified in surgery and thoracic surgery, Dr. Shariati is an accomplished surgeon whose expertise includes surgical treatment of diseases of the chest including cancers of the lung, esophagus, and chest wall, as well as tumors in the organs contained in the chest cavity.
