Anesthesia
The Obstetrical Division at Saint Barnabas Medical Center is keenly
aware of the critical role played by the Department of Obstetric
Anesthesia in the delivery of premier health care. The Department
of Anesthesia provides 24-hour in-house coverage strictly for the
obstetrical unit. There are two anesthesiologists exclusively devoted
to labor and delivery, along with a team of anesthesiology residents
and nurses.
With this full complement of anesthesia professionals, Saint Barnabas
is able to accommodate a large volume of patients with a variety
of services, ranging from neonatal resuscitation to continuous
epidural anesthesia. Also available is an acute pain service consisting
of an anesthesiologist who specializes in the management of postoperative
pain.
