President and Chief Executive Officer, Saint Barnabas Health Care System

Groundbreaking research and technological breakthroughs continue to revolutionize the field of medicine. Our ability to provide quality, compassionate care depends on much more than state-of-the-art technology. In the Saint Barnabas Health Care System, advances and improvements in patient care are being achieved through evidenced-based best practices. As part of our Quality and Safety Initiative, our System has convened collaborative multidisciplinary teams that are making changes in our delivery of care that improve and standardize care for all of the two million patients annually who rely on our outstanding staff.

New Jersey residents are educated health care consumers searching for the best possible care for their loved ones and themselves. Our dynamic hospital system is among the first in the nation to standardize best practices. Our commitment and dedication is improving the care of others far beyond this region. Other hospitals and hospital systems are adopting our methodology to improve safety and quality care. Every one of our 4,750 physicians and 22,000 employees can take pride in our continuing accomplishments.

It is our unwavering commitment to excellence that continues to build the outstanding reputation of the Saint Barnabas Health Care System.

The Cancer Centers of Saint Barnabas and The Valerie Fund Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders were pleased to celebrate Cancer Survivor’s Day on Sunday June 5 with a gathering at the National Guard Armory in West Orange. We welcomed many families whose lives have been touched by cancer for this “Celebration of Life.”

The event featured Betty Rollin, a contributing correspondent for NBC Nightly News. Ms. Rollin is the author of, “First, You Cry,” the landmark bestseller that broke the silence about breast cancer. Ms. Rollin, who celebrated her 30th year of survival this year, is a speaker who brings intelligence, inspiration and humor to a subject that is on the minds on many women.
Festivities also included music, massage therapy, health and wellness information, buffet lunch, survivor’s art project and children’s activities.

We are pleased that so many families chose to celebrate this special day with members of the Saint Barnabas Medical Center community. We salute these courageous survivors and their loved ones.
