Free Community Symposium Offered Addressing Advance in Neurological Care

The Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Saint Barnabas, an affiliate of the Saint Barnabas Health Care system, is presenting a free community program, “Recent Advances in Neurological Care,” on Thursday, October 26, 2006, at Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center, 200 South Orange Avenue in Livingston. The program is from 7 to 9 p.m.

This program will cover many of the important decisions and challenges regarding health, lifestyle, and social issues for those with neurological disorders. Internationally recognized neurologist, lecturer and author Orrin Devinsky, M.D., Director of The Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery at Saint Barnabas, will provide opening remarks. Following a brief introduction, experts in neurology and neurosurgery will host small group sessions in their respective fields. Featured will be Dr. Devinsky, Eric B. Geller, M.D., Rina F. Goldberg, M.D., Aviva Bojko, M.D., Mangala Nadkarni, M.D., and Cornelia Santschi, Ph.D., Judith Lustig, M.D., Lara Morse, M.D., and Peter Widdess-Walsh, M.D.

The small group sessions will provide an opportunity for attendees to focus on the topics of particular interest to them. The following topics will be discussed: Pediatric Epilepsy, Adult Epilepsy, Neurological Problems in Children and Adults with Developmental Disabilities, and Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. At these sessions there will be the opportunity to talk with the specialists on a more personal basis.
