SAINT BARNABAS BURN FOUNDATION TO RECEIVE $75,000 GRANT FOR FIREFIGHTER SAFETY VIDEO TO BE USED AT NJ FIRE ACADEMIES Innovative Coverage Concepts LLC Partners with Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company to Help Support Firefighters throughout the State WEST ORANGE, NJ (June 26, 2007) --Innovative Coverage Concepts LLC (ICC) and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company will award a $75,000 grant to the Saint Barnabas Burn Foundation for the production of a firefighter training video. The video’s goal is to reduce both the incidence and severity of firefighter burn injuries. The training video will focus on burn prevention and immediate burn care treatment at the fire scene and will become an important component of the Burn Foundation’s ongoing firefighter health and safety program initiatives. It will be incorporated into the “Firefighter 1” training course, offered at all New Jersey fire academies and mandatory for all incoming firefighters. The training course is the only one of its kind in the state. “Unfortunately, most firefighters believe in the ‘it can’t happen to me’ myth and are unaware of the extensive physical, psychological and emotional consequences of burn injuries,” points out Vicki Robinson, director of development for the Burn Foundation. “This video will dispel that myth by presenting information on firefighter burn statistics, types of injuries, clinical discussion of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degree burns, smoke inhalation, chemical burns, and so forth.
