This prenatal workshop helps mothers achieve the confidence and skills necessary for a satisfying nursing experience once their baby is born.  


Breastfeeding Support Group  (973) 322-5360

A free breastfeeding support group meets weekly following the New Moms’ Circle from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The workshop helps you achieve the confidence and skills you need for a satisfying nursing experience and addresses topics such as proper latch-on and positioning and maintaining your milk supply. This group meets at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center at 200 South Orange Avenue in Livingston. Newborns in car seats or strollers are welcome. Breast Pump Rental Service           (973) 322-5360

Electric pumps may be rented or purchased and breast-feeding accessories may also be purchased.


Grandparenting   (973) 322-5360

Grandparents-to-be can discuss their concerns and receive current information on trends and changes in infant care.

An overview of infant CPR and guidelines are provided under the direction of the CPR Training Center.


Lamaze Refresher Series (973) 322-5360

This program is a review on breathing and relaxation skills for couples who previously attended a prepared childbirth series during their first pregnancy. Women preparing for a VBAC delivery are encouraged to attend and are grouped together for education.


Marvelous Multiples Program           (973) 322-5360

This program is designed to educate parents expecting multiples on all aspects of their unique pregnancies, birth options and parenting more than one baby.

New Mom’s Circle           (973) 322-5360

Saint Barnabas Medical Center offers a free, six-week support group that is led by a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in post partum adjustment. The group meets on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center (ACC), 200 South Orange Avenue in Livingston, across from the Livingston Mall. Topics include transitioning to parenthood, mood changes, baby blues vs. postpartum depression and myths of motherhood. A breastfeeding support group immediately follows. Pets and Babies Seminar            (973) 322-5360

An informative seminar that offers tips on introducing the family pet to the new baby. Pediatricians, Veterinarians and guest speakers discuss pet and baby interactions. Way to reduce pet jealousy, pet proofing the baby’s room and disease precautions are also addressed.


Prepared Childbirth Series             (973) 322-5360

First-time parents are prepared for pregnancy, labor and delivery and provided with instruction in baby care. A tour of the maternity unit is included. Specialty populations, including pregnant women over 35 and parents expecting multiples, have separate curriculums. Condensed weekend series are available.

This is a comprehensive series with a curriculum designed for expectant parents including pregnancy information, an overview of labor and delivery, coping skill options and newborn baby care guidelines.

Sibling Class           (973)-322-5360

This class is designed to reduce children’s anxiety when separating with their mothers at the time of delivery. The class promotes a good feeling about the hospital, provides children with realistic expectations of newborn babies and emphasizes the fun of becoming a big brother or sister. 


Women’s Health Seminars            (973) 322-5360

Programs are offered on or off site to educate and promote women’s wellness. Seminar topics included: "Women, Weight and Wellness," "Preparing for Menopause" and "The Mind/Body connection with Women and Wellness."


Women’s Resource Library         (973) 322-5360

This consumer library is housed in the Medical Center’s Health Sciences Library. Videos and information on women’s health-related issues are available on a free loan basis. One hundred twenty women borrowed one or more videos this year.
