Severe, chronic gastric reflux disease or gastroesophageal
reflux (GERD) can be repaired with a da Vinci® Nissen
Fundoplication. The surgeon strengthens part of the esophagus
through which stomach acids are escaping by wrapping the
top portion of the stomach around it. The da Vinci® procedure
allows superb visualization, enhanced dexterity for complex
re-do operations and increased precision for internal stitching.
